The Maldives is an island which lies just across the equator in the Indian Ocean, Southwest of India which consists of an archipelago of 1,190 coral islands. Till date, only about 90 islands are developed into tourist resorts while the rest are uninhabited. Interestingly, almost the entire island is made of sea, only an insignificant percentage balance is for either agriculture or livelihood purposes.

Diving in the Maldives has become popular over the years, with the destination housing beautiful coral reefs, and being home to an abundance of marine life throughout the country.
